LNG is a fossil fuel -
NOT clean energy.
- Like coal and oil, LNG is a fossil fuel that contributes to greenhouse gases and global warming.
- Over its lifecycle, LNG can produce as much pollution as burning coal.
Using LNG reduces air quality. Because of the many intensive steps required during LNG production, conversion, transportation and combustion, the greenhouse gases released throughout the LNG lifecycle match other dirty fossil fuels. According the South Coast Air Quality Management District, LNG burns hotter than domestic natural gas releasing higher amounts of greenhouse gases.
